I also didn't opt to upgrade to collection 9 just yet. They both show up as owned in my Analog Lab store tab, but I own V Collection 8, which lists both of them in the ASC. My only evidence that they're not included so far is that the Details page for the collection says there are '14 exclusive sound banks' but if you combine the banks listed on the overview page with PatchWorks and Synthopedia that number would come to 16 (and those two banks are not among the 14 listed). I currently have the Synthopedia and PatchWorks sound banks marked as unknown status in my worksheet. There's also a short accompanying article on the blog with some random trivia I encountered while researching past versions, but the raw data's in the worksheet. It's a worksheet that lists every version of the collection side-by-side and indicates which products were new to a given release ('n') or which older products were grandfathered in from a prior collection ('o'). I started working on this two weeks ago when I was trying to decide whether the $99USD upgrade price from V Collection 5 -> 8 was worth it, but I've updated it for V Collection 9: Arturia V Collection Version Comparison.

Then factor in all the oddball digital emulations no one has like the SQ80, Prophet VS, Fairlight, Synclavier, CZ, DX7, E-II and it really becomes a no brainer With those two updates Arturia now has a Yamaha CS Poly, two Roland Polys, an Oberheim Poly, and a Sequential Poly all with the new updated analog emulation engine, throw in the new MS20 that can be played with 6 voice polyphony and you have a Korg poly sound alsoĪre these these the best emulations on the market? Maybe, maybe not, but they are pretty darned close to it in any case, and that gives you an incredible pallet of classic Analog Poly Flavors to play with well worth the $150 or $200 upgrade in my opinion

The revamped Prophet 5 is also a killer update that sounds fantastic I stayed up way to late last night playing with the revamped CS80 V, and I a, blown away by it.

I agree there is lots of uncharted waters in software emulations, having said that for me personally the CS80 is a dream synth I will never own, one that until now I have always found software emulations of to be lacking. I do notice that I end up in different territory when I work with a hardware synth vs.

Unless you’re totally broke, I do suggest picking up at least one, if for just the experience of working with a physical interface. I won’t buy it, though, because that kind of instrument doesn’t work in my world, but I would appreciate it if Arturia brushed up it’s emulation to the point of quality that they did their new Prophet 5 emulation. I do think that $3,500 is too much for a Prophet 5r4, but I paid $1,600 for a Prophet 6 module, and I think it’s well worth it. If you’re playing a Depeche Mode song, you’re not going to notice, but sometimes I play music that’s sonically more extreme.
